Honda Civic Hybrid

Posted under Honda, Hybrid Cars

Ever since 1972, when it was first introduced as a small, reliable and inexpensive car capable to provide very good fuel economy, Honda Civic has been a market success. During the years the model has increased in size and, the 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid can be called the pinnacle of its brand; it provides fuel efficiency due to its gas-electric power-train and, according to most reviews, offers a very good overall performance and promises to provide a thrilling muscular ride to all Honda’s passionate fans.

The hybrid features a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder V6 engine highly responsible for the car’s power and an electric gasoline engine which increases power and lowers fuel consumption; both engines provide an impressive 253 horsepower, swift acceleration and smooth power enabling the hybrid to run faster than the regular Accord.

V6 has the ability of shutting down 3 cylinders in order to increase fuel-economy during cruising speeds; moreover Honda Civic Hybrid features a system that received mostly bad reviews: the auto-stop-system which shuts down the gasoline engine during temporary stops.

Unlike most hybrids existent on the market which use continuously-variable transmission, Honda Civic Hybrid’s engine features 5-speed automatic transmission enabling the model to perform naturally in any road conditions.

It has been pointed out in many reviews that the model provides excellent performance and at the same time can be a pretty affordable family car which also offers good tough not perfect fuel economy.

As for the exterior, Honda Civic Hybrid, doesn’t score too many points as it can only be defined as mediocre, it’s just the same Honda Accord look, no hints about its dual nature, no distinctive, innovative features just subtle differences for example in the grille or in the font and rear bumpers. It’s rather a dandy approach to the environmental consciousness as those who buy it desire just to an economical and reliable car not to take credit for saving the planet.

On the other hand, the exterior doesn’t have too many flows as the Honda Civic Hybrid is a comfortable family sedan equipped with the latest technology available.

A highly safe model, the hybrid performed very well in the governmental crash tests as it has been created with the safety of both occupants and pedestrians in mind.

Due to its family background the 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid has been classified as a high-quality very reliable sedan capable of satisfying the need of comfort and daily utility – crucial for a family car, but in the same time to be a sporty agile sprinter all this for a base price of $ 28.154.
