The BMW Group will present in a world premier, at the Auto Show in Los Angeles the first full-electric model under the brand of MINI(2010 MINI E). The car will have no CO2 emissions and it will use a lithium-ion battery.
The story of ecological cars it’s not an empty word anymore, the concept is no longer used to create new and good publicity for some brands. From the hybrids who shared the propulsion between gasoline and electric power, today the non toxic cars is an expandable market witch each hour that goes by.
BMW Group have already tried to create a hybrid car and succeed, but that doesn’t stop them their and they enter in the fuel-cell compartment, in witch BMW Series 7 Hydrogen became a reality on the roads of Europe, in a half way success form. This time is timed for the junior of the brand, MINI, who takes a huge step to the vehicle of the 21 century with the electric hatchback. The new model based on the actual series model of MINI Cooper and the version that will go to American be considered as a pre-series version with a point of view that 500 units will be use only for drive test in the region of California.
Technically, MINI E will be equipped with a propulsion/transmission system fully electric, with driving wheels on the front, with a force couple of maximum 220 NM. The usual platform, on the series model, will suffer some changes that will be made to the back seats. The back seat will be complete eliminated instead of this the engineers are installing a lithium-ion battery; this method leaves the baggage space unchanged.
In safety compartment nothing major is change, are the same with series model that is already in use, minor changes are made in the suspension system and a little adjustment to the DSC.
The looks of the car will be unique with bicolor paint light silver and black silver, the car is going to wear the logo of MINI E even on the top of the car but is going to have a unique serial given from the manufacturer.
The dashboard will be convenient change, whit the appearance of in indicator that will show us the level in the battery. Another indicator will show us the consumption of the battery. The period inspection and technical problems that the firm is obligated to offer them, will take place in new centers, created especially for this car.
