Fiat is aiming high in the very pretentiously racing competition, with the Fiat 500 Abarth Assetto Corse dedicated exclusively to the racing trackand with characteristics like more power, light as air, and very agile.
Fiat 500 Abarth was the first step to a simple “beetle” with a sport characteristic, but the breakthrough was made with the Fiat 500 Abarth Assetto Corse model and also it announce to be a true bomb in racing competitions for juniors.
To perform a real revelation on the track in the same way that the athletic Fiat 500 performs on the streets, Assetto Corse takes the advantage of a book treatment. Abarth Assetto Corse was created by Fiat in association with Abarth engineers and the car will be made in only 49 pieces.
With the mounting of a turbo blower Garret GT 1446 on the 1.4 liters 16v propulsion system, the maximum power reaches 200 HP and the couple almost reaches 300 Nm. The weight of the car was reduce with 180 kilos by “throwing” away some useless stuff and using some very light materials like fiber glass and aluminum. Also the steering wheel has a more middle position.
The McPherson suspension is conceived with a competition use, with a adjustment on height, also the break system comes from Brembo and the frame is reinforced with steel bars and of course the roll cage can not be left aside. All of this gives to the care more speed and extra stability even in the speeding turns. The rims are on 17inches and are special conceived for the asphalt on the racing track
The exterior design looks almost the same as an Abarth, but it is very well defined by the red vinyl’s and stripes, competitions numbers that are placed straight in the lookers eyes. Also the hot red colored mirrors give as an amazing contrast with the white used for the body.
The race car treatment continues in the interior where you have a bucket seat, roll cage, and other competition-spec goodies. You can also see the carbon bits that were added to keep the weight down.
