Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

Posted under Mitsubishi

The series Lancer Evolution is inspired by the cars with which the Mitsubishi manufacturer allowed the Finn Tommi Mäkinen to take down four titles consecutive of Champion of the world of the rallies. Impassioned European and Japanese knows that which they called `Evo’ since beautiful lunette and the Americans for a few years already but it has put much time to arrive to us. It will have even been necessary to wait the launching of the tenth generation to see it appearing in the dealers of the mark to the country like model 2008.

The unconditional ones did not lose anything to wait since the Throw Evolution X rose with one four cylinders turbo compressed of 291 horses and all the elements that it was necessary for him to be measured in Subaru Impreza STI, the most sporting model of its large rival of always in rally. Evo was initially offered in version GSR, with a manual box with five reports/ratios and the version MR., equipped with a manual sequential box with six relationship with double automated clutch, was pointed a few months later.

It is the latter model which came to play the spoilsport in the match of sporting published in the most recent edition of the Guide of the car. Evo MR. there faced large sizes, that is to say Audi R8 and Porsche Boxster RS60, to determine which of these cars of exception offers best sporting qualities for the price, beyond the simple statistics. Evo is offered for approximately half less than Porsche and approximately to the third of the price of R8. Not, the small Japanese woman did not beat these two Germanic tenors but it is already an exploit which a car primarily drifted from a simple compact truck finds in such company.
Powerful, lives in control and equipped with a refined integral wheel, the news Lancer Evolution marked solids points in its duel with Subaru STI. The latter is not also nervous and precise only the model which preceded it, in spite of the 305 horses of sound four cylinders flat turbo compressed. The two versions of Evo even preceded the STI with measurements of performance, as well in acceleration as with braking.
The STI buckled 0-100 km/h in 5,88 seconds and crossed the quarter of thousand in 14,07 seconds with a point of 160,6 km/h. Evo MR. with sequential box supplemented the same tests in 5,82 seconds and 14,06 seconds, with a maximum speed of 162,4 km/h. Evo GSR with manual box did better still with stopwatches of 5,48 and 13,88 seconds, and a point of 166,9 km/h. The STI is equipped exclusively with a manual box with five reports/ratios.

In control, the two versions of Evo impress as of the first second by exceptional tactile qualities of their direction and the precision of their nose gear, a rather rare pleasure. The wheel sport sheathed of leather is well cut and rather pleasant but it misses the telescopic adjustment. The seats before signed Recaro are superbly carved but their base is really too low and it is not adjustable. It is the worst defect of Evo and I was never accustomed there.

In spite of that, Evo offer a feeling of solidity very similar to that of a well born racing car, without its discomfort. The body is rigid and the suspension very tightened without being too dry in normal control. These people-there know really what they do. It is enough to a light steering to register Evo in turn and it swivels without hesitation no and abrupt reaction. The history is different on track, at least for MR., as we discovered at the time of the match of the sporting ones.
