The team Mitsubishi, which will present its Racing Lancer Turbo Diesel in next Dakar, will take its first steps at the time of Baja Portalegre in Portugal. It will move then towards the tracks of Dakar to Argentina and in Chile.
It is thus in Portugal, at the time of Baja Portalegre (October 30 at November 2) that Mitsubishi will raise the veil, for the first time in competition, of its Racing Lancer Turbo Diesel. It will be placed between the hands of Stephan Peter Hansel and her copilot Jean Paul Cottret. Together, these two men gained Dakar with 3 recoveries all the same. Add all the same six victories to the credit of Stephan Peter Hansel in the motor bike, and you will include/understand the importance of the experiment of this crew and this surely strategic choice on behalf of Mitsubishi.
In more technical terms, Racing Lancer is made by V6 of 3,0L which delivers a power of 280ch for a couple of 650Nm! The architecture of the vehicle is more dynamic than its predecessor and it is derived from the model of production Lancer Sportback. It will aim to preserve the leadership on the plate in term of rally-raid. Mitsubishi is indeed the favorite for next Dakar, even if Volkswagen wants inevitably to put its sand grain in the Japanese machine.
The Japanese manufacturer made the advertisement of it. It will be represented on the roads of South America by a new model, Racing Lancer answering the soft code name MRX09. It will aim to gain the victory over the new course of Dakar, which will not be held in Africa.
It is thus the end of the Pajero era for Mitsubishi, which will spring the next year on the roads of Dakar with the Throw, equipped of a diesel engine. It was conceived besides by division cross-country race rally of the Japanese manufacturer. The diesel technology which wants to be clean will be applied besides to the next models of production of the mark. It will also profit from technology 4WD, that is to say four driving wheels. Once optimized, this function will be also proposed with general public on the models of production.
In parallel, Mitsubishi sets up a label visible “Drive@earth” on its body which wants to be parking with the eyes of the customers in the whole world of a clean control and an irreproachable behavior in the environmental field.
The reason of this change advanced by Mitubishi is quite simply the setting in conformity of the vehicles with the new rules of TRUSTED which will be effective in 2010. The engineers took as a starting point besides the model multi crowned in Dakar, Pajero (12 victories in 25 participations!).
The version of series, the Hatchback Throw will be marketed this summer on the European market. Ultimate Cooling (TM) which equips this vehicle is a innovating system of driving cooling which optimizes the thermal management of all the fluids by using two water circuits, with low and high temperature. It reduces the CO2 emissions and allows savings in fuel up to 5%. This system improves also the performances of the engine during accelerations.
It includes/understands in particular two radiators, a low temperature and a high temperature; this last being trapezoidal allows a saving in space opposite front. It has moreover two coolers of overfeeding to water on two levels, getting a cooling of a impressive effectiveness.
