Nitrous Oxide Systems NOS

Posted under Tuning Articles

Before we can start we must attract attention on some aspect: first of all the nitrous oxide is not a type of fuel. Second the term of NOS is not correctly use because NOS is the name of the company like MOMO, SPARCO, etc. The correct term is nitrous oxide.

Combustion and engine power
We all know that the combustion takes place by combining the air with gasoline in the combustion chamber. An engine works by burning the fuel, and the pistons are pushed down in the cylinder.  If you want more power burn more gasoline so the pistons can be push with a higher force. This process determines the obtaining of more power but this thing is impossible if we don’t have oxygen. The Nitrous Oxide Systems allow the engine to burn more fuel then the car normally does so the power increases.

Nitrous Oxide Systems
The air that we breed contains: 20.9% oxygen, 78.08% azoth and less then 1% other gases. Nitrous oxide is in a principal the same but with more oxygen. Nitrous oxide is a nod colored gas and unburnable, and its integrity contains 2 atoms of azoth and 1 atom of oxygen.

How does nitrous oxide systems works?
Without bigger details, while the burning process takes place in the engine, at almost 3000 degrees Celsius the nitrous oxide transforms in nitrous and oxygen. The oxygen that results from these, permits to burn a bigger amount of fuel. The over power cams from the gasoline.

The nitrous oxide exists in three systems: Dry, wet and Direct port.

Dry system
In a dry nitrous oxide system is atomized in an air conduct without extra fuel. It is use a single nozzle. In this surplus system the right amount of fuel is obtained with the modification of the parameters. The computer is “tricked” to deliver more fuel. Dry systems are very easily to install and are indicated for those that never used this type of systems

Wet system
In this type of system both nitrous oxide as well with the fuel are pumped throw the same nozzle. The wet systems fill in throw the pipe, nitrous oxide and then moistened whit fuel. This systems works better for the turbo/overcompensate engine.
